Meet your Guide: Shari Reynolds
In the summer of 2025, I opened Wanderers Retreat House here in Comfort, Texas. It’s my way of weaving together everything I’ve learned—hospitality, storytelling, and a lifelong passion for travel—into a warm, welcoming space.
Wanderers isn’t just a guest house; it’s also a place for gathering. I host retreats and workshops, and I lead guided tours back to Mexico, where my own journey as a wanderer really took root. I lived in San Miguel de Allende for 18 years and traveled extensively throughout the country. I even started a company called Explore and Go Mexico with an events site called This Week in San Miguel highlighting all the fun things to do in the town.
For me, travel is more than movement—it’s about slowing down, discovering new perspectives, and finding joy in the journey. That’s the spirit I hope to share with everyone who walks through the door of my guest house and joins me on my journeys through Mexico.

Sunday
Arrive at the Querétaro (QRO) airport where you’ll be met by your driver for the hour drive to San Miguel. Settle into your hotel.
Monday
8-9:30pm Breakfast at Hotel Matilda for meet and greet with your fellow travelers.
10am Cooking class where you’ll learn to prepare 6 classic Mexican salsas. Enjoy lunch at the end of your class.
12-2:30pm Time to relax by the pool at Hotel Matilda or try one of their spa specialties
3pm Visit to the Artesan’s Market, open air market, and design workshops
6pm Drinks at a rooftop terrace for sunset

8-9:30am Breakfast at Hotel Matilda
10am Guided walking tour of the historic center of San Miguel de Allende
12 noon Group lunch
2pm Visit Fabrica la Aurora, a renovated cotton textile factory from the turn of the century filled with art galleries, textiles, and unique artisanal pieces
5-7pm On your own to explore the town
7:30pm Wine pairing dinner featuring local wines

8-9:30am Breakfast at Hotel Matilda
10am - Noon Guided walk through the botanical gardens to observe native plants and birds
1pm Visit to a local hot springs and late lunch
5-7pm On your own to explore and shop
7:30pm Salsa class followed by dinner on your own
Thursday
8-9:30am Breakfast at Hotel Matilda
11am Check out and transportation back to the Queretaro Airport
